You’ve had the endoscopy. The ultrasound. The stool tests, maybe the same H. pylori test more than once. You still feel terrible, and the next offer on the table is a pill you’re supposed to take forever.
That was Rami’s situation. For over two years, his symptoms crept up on him: no classic heartburn, but anxiety, irritability, a sore throat, the feeling of something stuck in his throat, and air hunger that sent him to the doctor. He was offered anti-anxiety medication and PPIs. Nobody offered him a treatment for what was going on in his gut.
In this interview, Rami and I walk through his case start to finish: the symptoms, the testing that went nowhere, what I found when I examined him, and the treatment that got him better quickly.
Remember: Tests are not treatment – and they can’t help you heal. Treat the right problem, in the right order, and you should get better. If you don’t, the treatment is wrong.
