Real Solutions for Chronic Fatigue

Exhausted, overmedicated, and no closer to answers? There’s a real, treatable cause — and getting well often starts with doing less, not more.

“Her recovery began not by adding treatment, but by taking unnecessary treatments away.”

I take a root-cause, evidence-based approach to chronic fatigue — untangling overtreatment, identifying real triggers like mold and gut dysfunction, and building a practical plan to get you your energy and your life back.

Watch: From Chronic Fatigue to Conquering a Volcano

When Amelia first came to see me, she was taking over two dozen medications and supplements combined and was barely functioning — after aggressive treatment for Lyme disease, mold, and depression that left her worse, not better. Her recovery didn’t start with adding more treatment. It started with carefully taking unnecessary treatments away. Step by step, she walked back toward vibrancy and health — and recently climbed a volcano in Iceland, a feat unthinkable to her just a year earlier. I hope her story gives you hope that you can heal too.

Ready to find out what's driving your fatigue?

Does this sound like you?

✓

You feel exhausted no matter how much you sleep, and even mild activity can wipe you out for days

✓

You’re taking a growing list of medications and supplements, but keep feeling worse

✓

You have brain fog, muscle or joint pain, and poor sleep alongside the fatigue

✓

You suspect mold, Lyme, or another environmental exposure but haven’t gotten a clear answer

✓

Past doctors have been unable to problem-solve when treatments made you worse

✓

You’ve been told it’s “just stress” or “just depression” despite real physical symptoms

What's Behind Chronic Fatigue?

Chronic fatigue is rarely a single diagnosis with a single fix — it’s usually the downstream result of one or more root causes working together: gut dysfunction, an unresolved environmental exposure like mold, a nervous system stuck in a stress response, or, very often, an accumulation of well-intentioned treatments that never quite got to the bottom of things.

Patients frequently arrive in my office on a long list of medications and supplements, each added to manage a symptom rather than address a cause. Sorting out what’s helping, what’s making things worse, and what the real underlying trigger is comes before any new treatment is added — because sometimes the fastest path to feeling better is taking something away, not adding something new.

How my medical office is different

Three ways I’ve built this practice differently than a typical doctor’s office — or a typical functional medicine office.

01

Time to listen, think, and research

I run an independent private practice, free of hospital and insurance demands, so that I have the time to listen, think, and research your case properly.

I take a lot of pride in the fact that I am one of the few doctors who has been able to build my knowledge and skills day after day to make sure you get the best care possible.

My goal is for you to leave my office thinking:

“That was the best doctor’s visit I ever had.”

02

Treating the cause — without overdoing it

I treat the cause of your symptoms with natural and conventional medicine. But unlike other functional medicine offices, I don’t require thousands of dollars of labs or ask you to take hundreds of pills to get better. My goal is to get you well as quickly as possible — with the fewest supplements, the broadest diet that keeps you healthy, and a treatment plan that’s practical and down to earth.

03

Functional medicine you can afford

Paying out of pocket for medical care can be daunting. Because I want to help as many patients as possible, I’ve done all that I can to make care affordable:

  • ✓I charge less than other experts in the field, despite getting better outcomes for my patients
  • ✓I never profit from any testing I recommend
  • ✓30% off supplements from Moss Nutrition
  • ✓Discounted wholesale cash lab pricing through Clinical Pathology Labs for New Orleans patients
  • ✓No subscriptions or memberships — ever

My approach to Chronic Fatigue

A careful, step-by-step plan for untangling what’s driving your fatigue — starting with simplifying before adding anything new.

1

Take stock of everything you're already taking

Many patients arrive on a long list of medications and supplements, some helping, some actively causing harm. Before anything new is added, I review what’s already on board — and safely remove what isn’t helping.

2

Identify the real trigger

Sleep apnea, and a related condition called Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome, are common causes that are frequently missed. I also find gut dysfunction, nutrient deficiencies, and exposure to mold and heavy metals to be other common root causes behind persistent fatigue. I work together with you to find your actual driver rather than treating fatigue as its own disease.

3

Safely taper medications you don't need

When benzodiazepines or other medications have been layered on over time, tapering must be done slowly, carefully, and under medical supervision — never abruptly, and never on your own.

4

Repair the gut and calm the nervous system

Restoring gut health and addressing a nervous system stuck in a stress response are often central to recovering real, sustainable energy.

Chronic fatigue questions, answered

I'm already on a lot of medications and supplements — will you just add more?

Often the opposite. Many patients come to me overtreated, not undertreated. Before adding anything new, I review everything you're already taking and help identify what's actually helping versus what may be contributing to your symptoms.

No — please don't stop or taper any medication, especially benzodiazepines, without medical supervision. Abrupt discontinuation can be dangerous. Any changes should be done gradually and carefully, under my guidance.

For many patients, yes. Chronic exposure to mold or a water-damaged environment is one of the most common triggers I see behind unexplained chronic fatigue, and identifying it is often a key step toward recovery.

I focus on problem-solving when treatment isn't working, rather than escalating it. That often means simplifying the plan, reassessing the diagnosis, and addressing overlooked contributors like gut health and nervous system dysregulation.

It varies widely depending on how long you've been ill and how many factors are involved, but recovery is usually gradual and step by step — not an overnight fix. My goal is steady, sustainable progress toward getting your life back.

I don't bill insurance directly, but I provide a superbill after each visit that you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement. Working this way gives me the time and freedom to treat you as an individual, not a diagnosis code.

Let’s Get Started

A doctor who cares about science

Working as an independent physician gives me time to study and keep learning new ways to help my patients. I’m proud to have contributed to our understanding of the gut–thyroid axis in a paper published in 2022.

I graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine and School of Public Health in 2011 and completed my Family Practice training in 2014. I treat many conditions, with particular expertise in GI health and mold and heavy-metal toxicity. When I’m not with patients, you’ll find me playing with my three kids, exercising, meditating, or playing the drums.
